I’m always in search of ways to improve my fitness. It’s one thing to go out and train hard, but it is important to remember that one gains fitness and strength during the recovery phase and recent studies show that protein is helpful in this process. I feel privileged to now be a VIP for VEGA,… Continue reading The Importance of Protein & Recovery: Vega Review
Running sets my mind at ease. The steady rhythm of my feet. The concentration of where I place each step. Balancing and racing onward and upward. To the end of the trail. The peak of a mountain. What feels like the top of the world. I always think about what the first adventurer felt like… Continue reading Free to Trail
This is me at the South Rim after completing my second R2R2R!! Although I had suffered a knee injury in the weeks prior to this run, I had an amazing adventure!! I had not planned this trip, but couldn’t pass it up when the opportunity came my way!!
Surprisingly, my knee didn’t feel any worse running down into the Grand Canyon down South Kaibab Trail, so I continued on to the North Rim and back!! Beautiful scenery and making new friends along the way makes runs like this fall into the “epic” category!! It took us 19 hours to complete the double crossing due to some injuries…but in the end, we did it!! If you decide to go run as a group, you’re only as fast as your slowest runner. It’s a mutually respected mind-set that will carry you through.
Highs like this are hard to come down from and it makes you eager to head back to the Canyon for more epic adventures!! I plan on doing this again in October! If it is something you are considering, train properly and go for it!! It is an unforgettable experience in one of the most beautiful places on this Earth!!
Today is a new day so do not delay! Make your fitness and wellness goals a reality! Fitness is beyond being “skinny,” it is about living your life with the freedom of being able to do the things you want to enjoy! Fitness can have different meanings for different individuals, so define it for yourself TODAY!
