#ActiveLivingDaily Week 2

What a busy week! Two of my three kids started school this week plus I had many volunteer responsibilities that I had to fit in. The daily challenges were a perfect time to reflect on what motivates me, how I fit it all in, and what my ultimate goals are. Sometimes, I am so busy… Continue reading #ActiveLivingDaily Week 2

Recap of Week One #ActiveLivingChallenge

What a fun week!! One of my favorite things about a challenge is that it makes me more aware of all the amazing things I do to balance my life and take care of myself! It’s not just eating right, it’s not just exercising, but it is also taking time to enjoy the things that… Continue reading Recap of Week One #ActiveLivingChallenge

Grand Canyon R2R2R

Grand Canyon R2R2R

This is me at the South Rim after completing my second R2R2R!!  Although I had suffered a knee injury in the weeks prior to this run, I had an amazing adventure!!  I had not planned this trip, but couldn’t pass it up when the opportunity came my way!!

Surprisingly, my knee didn’t feel any worse running down into the Grand Canyon down South Kaibab Trail, so I continued on to the North Rim and back!!  Beautiful scenery and making new friends along the way makes runs like this fall into the “epic” category!!  It took us 19 hours to complete the double crossing due to some injuries…but in the end, we did it!!  If you decide to go run as a group, you’re only as fast as your slowest runner.  It’s a mutually respected mind-set that will carry you through.

Highs like this are hard to come down from and it makes you eager to head back to the Canyon for more epic adventures!!  I plan on doing this again in October!  If it is something you are considering, train properly and go for it!!  It is an unforgettable experience in one of the most beautiful places on this Earth!!
